Influenza Vaccination and the Egg Allergy Child- 2015

Every year the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) posts their recommendations for vaccination against influenza. Children need to be vaccination against influenza. In an allergy practice, the issue that comes up is the egg allergic child and the vaccine which contains small amounts of egg protein. The potential for a reaction is there, however allergic reactions to the egg-containing influenza vaccines are rare.

The recommendations for the egg allergic child are the same as they were last year. This algorithm is taken from the article in PediatricsRecommendations for Prevention and Control of Influenza in Children 2014-2015.
